An Edit link for the "in other languages" box in the left of wiki page.

Description:
My suggestion is simple: an Edit link for the "in other languages" box in the left of wiki pages.

Every section has its own Edit link so it's possible to load just that section. But when we need to change/add language link(s), we have to load the whole page! Not only this takes a long time but it's also very prone to error (esp for uploading edited page when sometimes servers are not very responding).

I had sent this to the mailing-list for discussion before filing the bug here. Somebody has suggested that loading the last section could also load the language link text, but this is possible when:

  1. the page is divided into sections (I've seen some long page without any section)
  2. language link text is at the end of the page, but this is just a convention since some pages' language link text is found at the beginning.

Anyway, even if there exist sections, but if the last section is very long, it's also time-consuming to load everything just to edit a few language links.

Bug 167 related, maybe even dependace.

Only partially related and thus partially dependent.

Actually, what is suggested in bug 167 is one of the solution to the enhancement requested in this bug. But other solutions are also possible to accomplish this wish. But of course, if moving interlingual link to metadata is easier to implement, then why not.

Looks like a safe WONTFIX. There's no way to identify the right section a priori, and anyway that link wouldn't be more useful than the edit section link for the first, last or whatever section, and if you don't even know what's the relevant section there's no way you can know how to edit interwikis.

I'm not sure how to respond to your comment of "that link wouldn't be more useful than the edit section link for the first, last or whatever section, and if you don't even know what's the relevant section there's no way you can know how to edit interwikis."

Have you ever looked at a real wikipage with these interwiki tags in real situation? Or are you talking by following the hollow theory?

The inerwikis are not in any section. They are in the whole page. So in order to modify them, one has to load the WHOLE PAGE. That's really stupid.

If that link isn't "more useful", then I suggest removing section's "Edit" links as well!

This aggressive behaviour is not acceptable.
Anyway, I've added/fixed thousands of interwikis.

No, no and no.

That's really stupid.

You're being POINTy.

I was just asking a simple question. If you feel it's aggressive, maybe it's because you have something to be blamed of and what I've said reflected the reality?

Anyway, I've added/fixed thousands of interwikis.

Me too, and so what?

I'm just applying the same reasoning to another thing to show how absurd it was. Simple logic. Not pointy

Great! As opposite to what Nemo had suggested, some other cleverer and open-minded people have implemented the "edit links" for language.
It's now a lot easier to edit the interwikis.
Thanks to them

Sorry, you're mistaken.
That's the Wikibase Client extension for wikidata, not MediaWiki core. And yes, it's the reason why this bug will never be fixed. :)
