RSVG does not render Sinhala Unicode characters for thumbnails.

Description:
Left: Correct rendering, Right: RSVG rendered thumbnail

When creating thumbnails for SVGs, RSVG incorrectly renders characters of Sinhala (Unicode) script (http://www.unicode.org/charts/PDF/U0D80.pdf).

Example image: https://si.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%B6%9C%E0%B7%9C%E0%B6%B1%E0%B7%94%E0%B7%80:Geoz_wb_si.svg

Possible fixes: Sinhala Unicode fonts are available in ttf-sinhala-lklug package. Probably we could make use of that.

Change 88430 had a related patch set uploaded by Reedy:
Add ttf-sinhala-lklug to imagescalers

Change 88430 merged by Dzahn:
Add ttf-sinhala-lkmug to imagescalers

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/88430

we are using "ttf-sinhala-lkmug" instead of "ttf-sinhala-lklug" now because on precise -lklug is "N: Can't select versions from package 'ttf-sinhala-lklug' as it is purely virtual" and -lkmug is the "dummy transitional package". Since puppet does not install recommends we are not getting "defoma" which is deprecated.

checked a puppet run on random imagescaler (mw75).

notice: /Stage[main]/Imagescaler::Packages::Fonts/Package[ttf-sinhala-lkmug]/ensure: ensure changed 'purged' to 'latest'

ii fonts-lklug-sinhala 0.5.4-1 Unicode Sinhala font by Lanka Linux User Group
ii ttf-sinhala-lkmug 0.5.4-1 transitional dummy package

in a few minutes all puppet runs should have finished, then please try again and confirm if it's resolved thanks

Sampath, i'll claim it's resolved :) I purged and reloaded https://si.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%B6%9C%E0%B7%9C%E0%B6%B1%E0%B7%94%E0%B7%80:Geoz_wb_si.svg and i see the characters now and afaict it looks good. please confirm. -- Daniel

@Shyamal Since this ticket is several years old it will not have the right subscribers, the Operating system we use has changed, the imagescalers and it's about different fonts. Therefore, could you please open a fresh ticket instead of reusing this one? Thank you.
