Failed Special:Import leaves imported pages behind, but does not say so.
Open, LowPublic

Description

This is a followup on T7689: XML-Import of a page version prior to existing history spoils diff page?

An error during a Special:Import of several pages/revisions leaves any good revisions in the data base that had
been read before the error war detected.

This is imho allright, yet the Error Message: "Import failed: ...(probably for some reason)..."
appears to be misleading or too terse.

Suggestion 1: Add a message: "# pages / # revisions successfully imported."
before the error message.

Suggestion 2: For each page/revision, once it has been successfully imported, display a line resembing the
corresponding entry of the page history. So effectively a content list of the xml records is produced.

Suggestion 3: Both.

A line for each revision will get very long very fast - consider importing via XML upload, where you might have many many pages: thousands upon thousands of revs total(!)

Probably #1 is acceptable.

Is this still happening?

Yes.
Sumana, you can safely assume than any bug in this component is still valid, whether 1 or 10 years old, unless an indication of the contrary is provided.
