This is a big event. (1k per day; bigger than any past event I can recall offhand)

Please find a tewiki sysop (or Abhishek is fine too I think) to confirm the 1000 per day number and IP. (comment on this bug or make an edit to the event page with the bug #) Or whoever you can think of to vouch for this.

(I unfortunately don't read telegu so need someone else to confirm this legit.)

Thanks!

Awaiting confirmation...
(Plus for the future, filing this one week in advance instead of just a few hours is welcome.)

From what I can confirm from Praveen Illa,
This event has been completed. With constant error message raised on cap on user account creation, most users did not create or contribute to Wikipedia. A few of them who could create user accounts by making use of Telugu Wikisource, Telugu Wikiquote, etc (total of 40 students/faculty of some 2000 students could work).
I am visiting the event venue today and tomorrow.
Faculty have added good articles.
There is no more need to continue on this.

This problem could have been avoided by creating this ticket a few days earlier, plus by answering comment 3 and comment 4 in a timely manner - but nobody did.

But ideally give us 7 days. If we have questions (e.g. is this NAT or filling in some other missing detail) then be responsive to our comments. In this case I was able to ask a lot of questions before the big was even filed so they didn't need asking on the bug itself. But that also was a painful process. e.g. I had to ask at least 3 times for the event page link before Praveen gave it.

I also left a note on [[te:user talk:రహ్మానుద్దీన్#CIS event in progress? bug 69385]] which didn't get a response yet. (I looked at several people from event page contribs, discarded those with very few edits (a dozen) or recently created accounts and was left with a sysop Rahimanuddin aka రహ్మానుద్దీన్ so I left him a msg)

and I guess comment 5 and the talk page I linked are the same person? (different spellings)

Anyway, tell us /early/ and don't make us peel teeth or chase you onwiki.

Reason:
