For new pages, the beginning of their content is shown as edit
summary by default. If there are line endings, they are
converted to spaces for the edit history. Wikilinks remain
wikilinks.
In the rc channel in irc.wikimedia.org, however, these
summaries have line ends removed, and wikilinks are spelt out
verbatim (i.e. not converted to links)
While the latter is fine with me, I think, line ends should
not be dropped but rather converted to spaces, too.
