Failure of software to indicate some edit conflicts
Open, LowPublic

Description

Author: amirvis

Description:
An accidental bot removal of IP 198.237.124.2 from the Wikipedia Administrator intervention against vandalism list (see edit at: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administrator_intervention_against_vandalism&diff=next&oldid=171947475) was apparently the result of an edit conflict that the mediawiki software did not report. The previous edit added the entry, and then the bot removed the above entry, presumably before the first edit was saved, with the result that the changes made in the first edit were removed.

How do we know it's not a problem with the bots code?

Please forgive this complete newby. See Wikipedia page Triominoes. See the paragraphs headed Playing the game and Point scores.

Clicking Edit for Point Scores brings up brief obscure text, not the paragraph.

The sources for the Edit links are <span class="editsection">[<a href="/w/index.php?title=Triominoes&amp;action=edit&amp;section=4" title="Edit section: See also">edit</a>]</span>
AND
<span class="editsection">[<a href="/w/index.php?title=Triominoes&amp;action=edit&amp;section=3" title="Edit section: Point scores">edit</a>]</span>

Note the difference between the two at the ends, Playing and Point scores:

See also">edit</a>]</span>
Point scores">edit</a>]</span>

Does this difference account for the problem? Is there a bug? Can you arrange for the source to be corrected so that I can edit the paragraph?

I am unfamiliar with bugs of any sort, alas. Hence my encroaching on your territory and asking for your understanding and help.
