Cleaning up user renames
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

It would be nice to have a maintenance script (or scripts) that could clean up some of the mess that has been made by user renames in the past.

In the past, deleted edits were not moved with user renames. A script to move the deleted edits and "re-attribute" them would be swell.

Also, the rename user log is screwed up on en.wiki (excerpt):

23:02, 7 June 2006 Essjay (Talk | contribs | block) has renamed Special:Renameuser to "$2" ‎ (Renamed the user "Pikachunoctowlmudkip" (which had 75 edits) to "XD375")

Version: unspecified
Severity: enhancement

The log could be fixed I suppose

Done in r39596.

There is no clean way to fix up actual old renames though, I'd rather let those be rather than log scrapping or something ugly.
