archive-bots probably will fail on blocked links
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

i did not test it, but i guess, that bugfix 1505 brought a new small problem:
if a url is used on a discussion page, and after that listed on a blacklist, there's no further saving problem for _that_ page, since 1505 is fixed now.
but i guess, that an archive-bot will not be able to _move_ a thread from "talk:foo" to talk:foo/archive, cause _this_ would be block, wouldn't it?

Sure, but that was a problem previously too. You are perhaps wanting bots to be exempt from the spam blacklist. This has been proposed before, but I cannot find a bug for it currently. Perhaps it is in wikitech-l. IIRC, it was decided to not implement that, though perhaps you can provide some new arguments or insight.

No, it was foundation-l. The thread starts here, and continues in May: http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/foundation-l/2008-April/042075.html

ok, i just read 13706 till EOD 2008-04-25 and it seems that this should be handled by the bot programmers and by users but not by the extension.
so one may say it's a bug, and the other may say it's a feature.
however, i mark this ticket as a dublicate of 13706 (which i didn't find before, for i was searching the extension-bugs only).
