Related to, but not a duplicate of bug 2308. Bug 2308 is for watching subpages in one go - this bug would not require the pages to be subpages.
And actually, move-subpages is not /really/ the same as moving a book, as some language editions do not use subpages to identify books.
Component: -Page Protection +General, Since it covers more than one request.
The protection should be able to be done now with the cascading I think. which should just leave the bulk watch listing and deleting.

How's that? The pages aren't transcluded.

doesn't it work with them just being linked or do they need to be transcluded?
They have to be transcluded: "Protect pages included in this page (cascading protection)"
This is duplicate of T15491, T14908 and Extension:WatchSubpages (or both task are duplicates of this).
That would be only a workaround (until we finally get a proper way to represent books in MediaWiki, which does not depend on the subpages hack - T17071)
