Deprecate the term 'sysop' throughout software, use 'admin'
Open, LowPublicFeature

Description

The term "sysop" implies that a user is a "system operator" on in a MediaWiki wiki, however, this is simply not the case. In most cases, a MediaWiki sysop (or rather, admin) can do certain administrative functions, but cannot do things related to the more traditional role of a systems administrator (sysadmin) which can lead to confusion.

Because a MediaWiki sysop has the default ability to do only administrative tasks, the term "sysop" should be deprecated in favor of the term "admin" or "administrator." This would include changing things like Special:ListUsers/sysop to be Special:ListUsers/admin and other changes throughout the software.

Sounds reasonible, however not sure if the cost outweighs the gain. :-/

Attention to detail is rarely fun but the only way to achieve a professional result.

I'd recommend the alternative, as "administrator" implies a lot of things that aren't true.
