I click "PDF version" in the sidebar and it generates a PDF. When I go to download the PDF, the file name is "collection.pdf"

That's simply awful naming. My recommendation would be "Page_title_date-generated.pdf" possibly truncating page titles at a certain length and normalizing the title of funky characters.
