wpHideName should hide the username more effectively
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Author: mike.lifeguard+bugs

Description:
The whole point of "Hide username from the block log, active block list and user list" is so that the block will be hidden. Thus, it should also be hidden in Special:Log. Currently you can see it on Special:Log - it's only hidden in Special:Log/block (and Special:BlockList & Special:ListUsers).

And Speisialta:Log/newusers

Also could there please be a more visible warning if a normal sysop is going to overwrite such a block, they unhide the insulting names again :S

Thanks a lot!

Used wpHideUser as a short form for the English description for a shorter summary.

If this is desired, then it might as well set all the _deleted fields for the user's name.

Sounds good to me. As long as it's in the suppression log, we don't need anything else at all (& nor do we want it).

Please could also the username be hidden if an action of that user is rollbacked by an unthoughtful admin?

Often vandalism just gets rollbacked but then in the history the hidden username remains because of the rollback summary.

Many thanks in advance

That is bug 18526.
