Adding interwikis with drag'n'drop
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Author: Eugene.Zelenko

Description:
I think will be good idea to use drag-and-drop for adding interwikis from usability point of view. At lease it should eliminate manual article editing which may be error-prone.

May be implemented as extension.

Also this feature could take care about interwikis order which may be different in different wikis.

Could you detail this proposal a little more? Where would you drag them from and where to? Is this for adding inline interwiki links ("see the page on meta for details") or for interlanguage links in the sidebar? ("fr:Des choses amusants")

I'm thinking about interlanguage links in the sidebar.

First possibility (if browser allows) to drag one open tab and drop it on interlanguage links area in the sidebar. Require URL validation (including same wikis family like: Wikipedia, Wikiquote, etc.)

Second possibility: two panes with categories in two languages. You could drag article/category from one side and drop it on appropriative article/category title on other side.

I'd say this is WONTFIX. If we someday get the centralised interlanguage link management, it may be worthwhile to study how it could be made easier.

For the record, meta:Wikidata is on its way...
