in the new vector skin on wikis with language converter enabled such as zh.wikipedia and zh.wikisource, links for switching different language variants are invisible. however, they exist in source code.

This was happened on r52374 for the style sheets changes before.
[[:zh:Special:Version]] indicates that current version of MediaWiki is 1.16alpha (r52088) which is less than r52374, so was that change applied?

That is [[mw:Extension:UsabilityInitiative]], and seems not to contain vector skin.
