It would help immensely maintaining the gadgets if on the MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition page the gadget definitions would be expanded into links pointing to the gadget decription, javascript code, and CSS code pages, respectively.

I should've done more research before posting that - Special:Gadgets *does* include an [edit] link for the description if the user has the editinterface permission. So it seems like the special page already does everything you're asking for.
