Is this still a bug? It's over a year old.

The search feature hasn't been implemented for any search backend other than Lucene, and it's not currently a priority to do so.

Does this request make sense? Isn't the regular search engine enough to search through LQT threads?

I think there are middle-term considerations to switch from Lucene to Solr, but I don't know which changes this would require.

Now we have Cirrus Search, but I don't whether it has any relation to LQT. In fact LQT is clearly in legacy mode, and I'm not sure we would advice anyone to write other search backends for it. Is it a problem if in this case we are clear and resolve as WONTFIX?

LiquidThreads has been replaced by StructuredDiscussions on all Wikimedia production wikis (except one, which will be done soon). It is no longer under active development or maintenance, so I'm re-classifying all open LQT tasks as "Lowest" priority.
