chapter: interwiki from sr.wikipedia point to missing sr.wikimedia.org
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Author: millosh

Description:
From projects in Serbian default link to the chapters wikis is sr.wikimedia.org, which doesn't exist. Domain sr.wikimedia.org is reserved for the future WM chapter in Suriname and it should stay so. However, link [[chapter:rs:...]] from projects in Serbian points to the non-existing page, which means that it should be fixed somehow.

Not sure I understand... you want a direct for _sr_ or _rs_? And to where? What's an example of a page that has a bad link, and how is it formed?

I think Milos meant to say that there's no way to interwiki link to http://rs.wikimedia.org, the site of Wikimedia Serbia. So [[chapter:rs:]] or whatever should link there.

millosh wrote:

Actually, we are not able to make a link to any chapter. [[chapter:nl:]] is also impossible link because it links to the page http://sr.wikimedia.org/wiki/nl:, which doesn't exist.

Per bug 24442 comment 6 I think the chapter: interwiki should be killed, and replaced by the wmXX: prefixes defined in the Meta interwiki map. For instance, "wmrs:" does what is needed for this bug.

I'm closing WONTFIX but am not opposed to someone reopening this bug if you really think chapter: has a valid case for existence.
