A solution for users of a Commons file upload tool
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

Author: test5555

Description:
The fixed for [[Bugzilla:23076]] seems to have stopped "Commonist", a fairly widely used Commons file upload tool from working.

As the tool doesn't seem to have a maintainer, some sort of solution needs to be found for its users.

Reducing to normal. It's probably not even right to be here...

Commonist from my understanding is a ToolServer tool, ask them[0] to look after it and maintain it, We should not be creating work arounds for security patches when/if tools are unmaintained.

Are you sure it's unmaintained? or that just the person looking after it hasn't been around for a few days.

It's not a toolserver tool, but a Java application, e.g. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Tools/Commonist

This may not be MediaWiki related, but just an issue for http://commons.wikimedia.org/

I've posted on Commons the fix.

It's relatively simple

Can you implement it into Java?

Changed "Component" to "Wikimedia" rather than "MediaWiki", sorry about that.

Closing again. It's not WMF related

Where is the source code?

Details for the maintainer can be found here: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Commonist#Bugs_and_feedback try contacting them about it.

For someone that decided to reopen itself. Fixing back to invalid.

Can you put this bug into a "user experience" category and maybe add some statistics on the number of users/uploads?

I have published a patched version of the tool that fixes the login problem:

Enjoy,

Excellent. Thanks for your help. Changing this to fixed.

It's still invalid since the bug isn't to do with anything on here.

I made a separate request to find a solution to limit problems in the future:
