Assigning to Tomasz as he does partnery stuff.

As a reminder, this is still appearing in the popup when you click the [W] icons :

All text is available under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License

I mailed Kul to find out who our current contact is at Google.

Ok. mailed our upstream contact. Will update when they respond.

Good news. The change is now being localized and will be deployed after.

Is Google still using Wikipedia data?

http://www.google.com/intl/en_ALL/help/legalnotices_maps.html doesn't contain any notice about Wikipedia or WMF.

I did the following check:

maps.google.com
Looked for "Nantes, France"
Choose the "Wikipedia" overlay (top right drop down list)
Clicked on one of the W icon

A popup show up with a short abstract of the article. The footer read:

All text is available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License

Then there is a link to http://www.wikipedia.org/ together with a logo ( https://maps.gstatic.com/intl/en_ALL/mapfiles/iw_wikipedia.png ).

The original issue has thus been solved by Google.
