Description:
Hi,

Wikimedia should have simple email address for projects like wikipedia, wiktionary, etc. I think we can make email address like english@wikipedia.org, english@wiktionary.org, etc then redirect to appropriate mailing lists.

Thank you

this would probably confuse people even more, especially when most email providers and clients feature address booking services these days.

I believe current naming style extremely confusing so adding assumable email address become very usable.

What if they wanted to email OTRS instead?

That wouldn't be appropiate for a mailing list. And they would still need an intermediate step in mailman. So wherever they find that url, they should bookmark the list name.

For OTRS we can have something like the following:

otrs@wikipedia.org
otrs@wiktionary.org

otrs.english@wikipedia.org
otrs.en.wikipedia.org

etc.

Its easy to remember the above mentioned email address and useful than bookmarking a page like this: http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/OTRS/Mailing_list

WMF already have email address like info@wikimedia.org, volunteers-otrs@wikimedia.org, etc. More examples here: http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Contact_us

We should keep a standard system for email ids for all WMF projects.

That would only work for people that know what is OTRS. (btw, that is just the name of the software we use...)
You are making it more complex than the current info-en addresses. How many people do you think would mistype it as orts ?

Please come up with a concrete proposal that has support before submitting a bug. Metawiki is a good place to do it. Thanks!
