Search autocomplete incorrectly fills search box
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Author: carnildo

Description:
When attempting to enter "table (parlementary procedure)" in the search box on the English Wikipedia, search autocomplete prevents you from doing so.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. On the English Wikipedia, type "table (" in the search box, slowly enough that autocomplete shows a list of suggested titles before you type the "(".

Expected results:
The search box contains "table (", with a list of article titles beginning with "table" in the drop-down list.

Actual results:
The search box contains "table tennis(", with a list of article titles beginning with "table tennis" in the drop-down list.

If it matters, I'm using the Classic skin and Opera 9.27 for Macintosh.

Hi carnildo! Sorry that nobody has taken a look at this report yet and given feedback.

The steps to reproduce are verbose and great (thanks for that!), but I cannot reproduce this with Firefox 17.0.1 and the search box in the upper left corner.
Is this still an issue for you?

I can no longer reproduce it (Opera 10.10 for Macintosh).

Thanks for also trying again.
