LiquidThreads summary view doesn't have explanatory text above thread
Open, LowestPublic

Description

A screenshot of LiquidThreads summary view not using explanatory text above the old thread.

This is somewhat related to bug 24967. When you go to summarize a thread currently, it loads a new page and below the main textarea it puts the content of the thread. This should be labeled with some explanatory text.

Screenshot attached.

I'm confused here and I want to make sure I understand what this bug is about.

Am I correct in assuming you are talking about what happens when you click "Edit Summary" or "Summarize"? That the editor that appears doesn't indicate to you that you are editing the summary?

(I'm really asking "this isn't about the position of the summary on the screen, right?")

This is about prefacing the thread contents with a note that says "below are the current thread contents." Otherwise, the user is just left assuming that's what you've stuck below the textarea.

fwiw I would kill the Summarize idea altogether. Too many options. It's just a discussion thread and there is a first post that anybody can edit.

LiquidThreads has been replaced by StructuredDiscussions on all Wikimedia production wikis (except one, which will be done soon). It is no longer under active development or maintenance, so I'm re-classifying all open LQT tasks as "Lowest" priority.
