On Commons?

  • Interwiki text: Мары йӹлмӹ

Names.php says:
'mrj' => 'Кырык мары', # Hill Mari
Which one is correct?

Кырык мары means "Hill Mari",
Мары йӹлмӹ means "Mari language" (compare to Meadow Mari: "Марий йылме").

First variant is good when we need to clearly separate the language from Meadow Mari (mhr), second variant is a native language name.

The current interwiki string for Meadow Mari is "Олык Марий", which means "Meadow Mari", if i understand correctly.

If it's "Meadow Mari" for "Meadow Mari", shouldn't it be "Hill Mari" for "Hill Mari"?

Native language name is better. "Hill Mari" and "Meadow Mari" are both exonyms, while Мары йӹлмӹ is endonym.
