Officially promote new WikiEditor from Beta status
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Now that the new editor is the default, there are a couple of minor issues that need to be cleaned up:

  1. Move the Usability Initiative stuff out of the "Beta features" section of the Editing Preferences page and into the "Advanced options" section.
  1. Add brief documentation for the 2 options to http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Preferences#Editing

Version: unspecified
Severity: enhancement

I went ahead and added the documentation for #2:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Preferences#Editing

Now they just need to be moved out of the Beta section at the same time that #1 is fixed.

If it moves out of beta, perhaps it should be moved from the extension into core?

Yes. Absolutely.

I agree it should be in core, replacing the old toolbar (aka "monobook editor").
However I think there are a couple of issues, unfinished pieces and bugs that need to be resolved before bringing it into the core. (ie. the parts that are not default or even disabled on Wikimedia wikis)

Such as ajax Preview/Diff, dynamic TOC, collapsible templates, and anything 'iframe' related (ie. copy/paste newline bug)

Then they should be added as blockers to this bug :)

This bug has nothing to do with moving WikiEditor into core. I've started a new bug for that - Bug 26914. Please continue this conversation there. Thanks!

Closing since "Beta features" has been changed to "Usability features"
