Andre: I think this tracking bug might pre-date the existence of the "Skin and page rendering" component of the "MediaWiki" product in Bugzilla. Perhaps this bug could be killed?

(In reply to comment #2)

On the other hand, with tracking bugs we can have sub-trees such as bug 46949.

Personally I'd kill this ticket, but this community loves to duplicate tracking bugs, keywords and components, because the Bugzilla software loves to provide several ways to do the same thing...

If I'm understanding 'skin rewrite stuff' properly, this very well might be what I meant by 60654 - because the skinning system itself needs an overhaul, and that is definitely a distinct problem/bug category within the category of skin and page rendering issues.

Summary could probably be a bit clearer on that, though.

@TrevorParscal, you are proposing to work on this area during the Wikimedia Hackathon in Lyon. Any specific task(s) or in general?

This task or the specific ones identified should be associated with the Wikimedia-Hackathon-2015 project.

It is time to promote Wikimedia-Hackathon-2015 activities in the program (training sessions and meetings) and main wiki page (hacking projects and other ongoing activities). Follow the instructions, please. If you have questions, about this message, ask here.

Did someone work on this project during Wikimedia-Hackathon-2015? If so, please update the task with the results. If not, please remove the label.

We discussed some specific issues, see T97968, and @Isarra and I did some grunt work, not strictly relevant to this task, which isn't really showcaseable (but resulted in a number of small patches to various skins). I removed the project from this task.

Jdlrobson claimed this task.

Doesn't seem like a useful tracking tasks and T29292#311094
Workboards such as MediaWiki-Core-Skin-Architecture are much better these days.
