Mark animation on thumb links

Description

mark animation on thumb link

A user on de.wp had the idea to mark animation on thumb links with an icon, because MediaWiki does not show all animation files, for performance reason.

I have create an attachment, which add an new icon to thumb links.

Feel free to adapt or change this patch.

Thanks.

I don't like that symbol/icon, It looks way to much like the one we already use on thumbnail images[1] and would just confuse people I think...

The image is inspire from magnify-clip.png. I have not found an other image for this, and then I have create a new one, which looks like an animation (One picture behind other pictures)

It is only a image, you can change it or create a new one, no problem.

Umherirrender, thanks for the patch. I'm adding the "need-review" keyword so developers know to review it.

Umherirrender, I'm sorry to say that this patch no longer applies cleanly to trunk. Can you update it? Thanks!

Obsolete per automated testing http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2011-November/056340.html

No, I did not update the patch, because the patch was only to show a possible result, but there is nobody at the moment which love that, so no need for a patch.

Unclear what this is about. Can somebody please expand the description?

I imagine this is about image file formats which support animation, like AGIF or SVG, when only a single frame is shown in a thumb (cf $wgMaxAnimatedGifArea)

I don't think there's any product desire for this right now (tagging @ovasileva in case there is) so tempted to decline, but if we did want to do this, we'd need to modify the parser to output the appropriate class so not in the scope of my team.

For the records, this ticket would basically be a poor person's workaround until T138665 and T208578 about animated SVGs (rendered as thumbnails) is handled.
