Visiting https://commons.wikimedia.org/x shows two problems:

It says I am at http://commons.wikimedia.org/x , which is not true. This needs to be fixed to use the current protocol, as should the redirect
It uses images from http://upload.wikimedia.org, should use protocol-relative instead.

Also, the link below seems to hardcoded //en.wikipedia.org - which should show https://www.mediawiki.org

That is bug 28648.

HTTP hardcoding seems to have been removed so I am closing this bug.
