Currently, the BookManager extension uses the values of the following messages from [[mw:Extension:Collection]]:
It should have its own messages, whose default values should be those defined for Collection extension (after testing if Collection extension is available). This way BookManager would not break unexpectedly if collection extension is not installed.

Adding many blockers of bug 38638 to the list of "easy" bugs, to mark them as candidates for [[mw:Google Code-in]] tasks (gci2013). If you think this bug is not suitable, remove the keyword.
Closing all tasks as the BookManager extension is being archived as per T180020: Archive the BookManager extension and its successor, BookManagerv2 being archived as well.
