Opera on Mac OS does not display saz font
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Screenshot of test page in OSX 10.7/Opera 11.51

I have tested all available fonts in WebFonts in many browsers with the given URL:

  • Windows 7/Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421
  • Windows 7/Opera 11.51
  • Windows 7/Safari 4.0.5
  • Windows 7/Google Chrome 14.0.835.202
  • Windows 7/Firefox 7.0.1
  • OSX 10.7.2/Firefox 7.0.1
  • OSX 10.7.2/Safara 5.1.1
  • OSX 10.7.2/Opera 11.51.1087

I have found no immediately visible issues with display, except for OSX 10.7.2/Opera 11.51.1087. This OS/browser combination does not display the "saz" font; instead squares are displayed. See attached screenshot.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Install Opera 11.51 on an OSX 10.7.2 installation
  2. Visit page http://translatewiki.net/w/i.php?title=User:Amire80/All_WebFonts_languages&oldid=3359433

Observed behaviour:

  • Line 17 is displayed incorrectly.

Version: unspecified
Severity: normal
OS: Mac OS X 10.7

Just to understand the script rendering capability of the OSX 10.7.2 with other scripts, could you please attach a screenshot of OSX 10.7.2/Firefox 7.0.1 too?
I see wrong rendering for Malayalam and Tamil too.

I can confirm this on my MacBook Air running 10.7.2 & Opera 11.52.

Opera 11.10 and 11.51 successfully show the 'saz' font on Ubuntu 11.10, looks same as the functional OS X 10.7/Firefox 10.7 example.

Needs to be reported upstream.

Cannot reproduce on Fedora 16 Linux with Opera 12.02 (Build 1578) either.

Does this still happen in a recent Opera version (11.64, 12.02, 12.50) on MacOS X?

Still a problem, although the appearance has changed. Attached new screenshot taken on OSX 10.8.2 with Opera 12.02 build 1578.

Upstreamed as "DSK-375744" to bugs.opera.com (no access).

It's still broken in Opera in ULS. Moving to ULS.

Fixed for me in Opera 28.0

Was it marked as fixed?

@Krenair Opera switched to Webkit/Blink with Opera 15, so it's not the same browser anymore that the original report was filed against.

And their tracker seems to be closed, so a bit difficult to figure out what happened exactly...
