revert wikidiff2
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Author: a.d.bergi

Description:
Since wikidiff2 got live on WMf wikis (Bug 27720), there are many complaints about the new behavior on the German Wikipedia ([[de:WD:Projektneuheiten#Diff]], various archived sections of [[de:WP:FzW]]).
Not that whitespaces are handled wrong (Bug 21351, Bug 23704), marking whole words as changed when only punctuation marks were altered is seen as very annoying allover the community.

So please improve, replace or revert wikidiff2 - Bug 29385?

We are not going to revert it on live site. But for sure, will need to fix the bug you referenced :-)

This is the single most irritating bug that is live (well, after the EXIF rotation maybe), and I cannot even vote for it because it "wontfix". I think that is scandalous.

Are you frustrated that problems aren't being solved fast enough? Have you voted on the open bugs?

I'm glad someone finally got around to filing bug 33331, 7 weeks after the deployment, letting us know what the actual problem is. Wikidiff2 can be rolled back to 1.0.x if that bug can't be fixed, but I would like to at least have a few days to work on it.
