Note incidentally that this issue with occurs with formats like table, broadtable and tagcloud, but not, for instance, with list and enumeration.

The issue is rendering of wikitext on special pages. Moved your example here: http://scratchpad.referata.com/wiki/SpecialPageWikitextRender

This may be a tad confusing. I meant to say that afterwards when you edit the results and specify a format, the problem persists with some formats and not with others.

The format parameter of the #ask query when the limit is set to zero has no effect whatsoever on the results which appear on the special page. Should that be filed as a separate bug? Or would that be a feature request?

Yes, that appears to be the case here. Would it be possible to fix this?

I have encountered this same problem. I have renamed this report to be a little more clear where the problem lies.

The problem lies with rendering on special pages, not with special:ask. You made the title less correct.

OK, I've only seen it on Special:Ask (where the demo shows it). Go ahead and change the title again.

Not special pages per se, though it may not be specific to Special:Ask either. Special:RunQuery, when used with Semantic Forms, does render wiki markup. Then again the problem can be seen elsewhere, e.g. on property pages, in the list of values under "Pages using the property ...".
