"New messages" on www.mediawiki.org don't explain why I get them / how they are related to my watchlist
Closed, InvalidPublic

Description

On http://www.mediawiki.org/ we are reminded we have new messages upon login.

We can read them at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:NewMessages .

However there is not a sliver of hint how they are generated.

There should be a note on that page that they are somehow related to one's watchlist, if indeed that is the case.

Currently we see a

History
Move
Watch
Summarize

on top of each message.

If they were really on our watchlist, they would say "Unwatch" there.

And all we are given is the choice to 'mark as read', but no 'unsubscribe'.

LiquidThreads has been replaced by StructuredDiscussions on all Wikimedia production wikis (except one, which will be done soon). It is no longer under active development or maintenance, so I'm re-classifying all open LQT tasks as "Lowest" priority.
