No it does not need this. TitleKey is Brion's extension, adds a simple table with keys.

It's pretty straightforward and probably wouldn't hurt to core it, but we could also just ship it with distributions and enable it by default...

Yes, this was the original proposal.

Hello,

I want to bring again attention to this bug. There are recent discussions [1][2] started by users who cannot run the rebuildTitleKey script, and integration into the core could solve their problems, too.

I am fully in favour of having TitleKey in the core... who else ?

I agree it should be merged into core, or at least shipped with distributions and enabled by default. Is there any reason not to?

Also see my patch https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/286580/

I just wanted to show my support for merging this into the core. I haven't seen any objections (other than this one here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Suggestions_for_extensions_to_be_integrated#TitleKey which doesn't really make sense). I agree this is one of the most useful extensions and it seems to be pretty easy to merge into the core.

With Sophivorus' patch, it should work very well on non-English language sites too.

Kghbln subscribed.

I guess this is just a matter of someone doing the necessary commit.

Even if you have no +2 permissions in core, you can upload a patch. You are aware of this?

Yeah, it has, but it'S the only way for you to do a change in core.
