allow entering languages in the interface language when adding a new sitelink in Wikidata
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Currently if the interface is set to English one can not add a link for a new article by typing "Germany" but only "Deutsch". This should either be changed to allow both or just the translated name of the language.

If you are in hurry and don't wait for ULS, there are already few language selectors that accept languages in all languages, one in Kieli and one in Incubator extensions.

That bug is fixed; can this be reproduced still?

I tested it and still reproducible .for example by typing آلمانی in farsi interface it doesn't add dewiki

I didn't look too deeply into it, but maybe ULS's languagesearch API action be used for this.

There may be an issue with mapping between language codes and project codes, though.
