Caret irregularly moves when the text area automatically expands in Translate extension
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

When editing a large chunk of texts in the Translate extension, the caret sometimes irregularly moves to the top left corner. This forces me to move back the caret and re-enter the cancelled part of the text.

The condition under which this happens seems to be:

  • when using Japanese input methods
  • when editing a large chunk of texts
  • when the text area automatically expands as I almost fill it

This happened on the installations the Translate extention on meta.wikimedia.org and translatewiki.net.
My environment is IBus 1.3.99.20110818 Ubuntu Linux 11.10.

What browser?

Firefox 17.0 reproduced this bug on Meta's current installation. Although I was on an older version of it when I initially reported this, the problem still persists with 17.0.

Chromium (20.0.1132.47 Ubuntu 12.04 (144678)) doesn't seem to have this problem. In a couple of trials with entering a large chunk of Japanese texts, it didn't happen.

I'm assuming this old report is fixed, since this was pre-TUX. If not, please reopen or file a new task.
