I don't understand the request, are you asking to have a NOGALLERY -like behaviour on all categories? Please link to consensus.

The discussion seems to show that you were not aware of the existence of the main namespace on Commons, is this the problem? How do you propose to increase awareness of this very basic characteristic?

"This Category:Gallery pages is completely ridiculous. The gallery main space contains 106000 galleries (and 60000 redirects). See discussion in Commons:Categories_for_discussion/2012/07/Category:Gallery_pages. Please use Special:AllPages or just type a name in the search box. --Foroa (talk) 09:56, 6 July 2012 (UTC) "

The Village Pump discussion that you quote is now archived here:

Foroa only made that one comment there. He started the other discussion later. At that later discussion there seemed to be some agreement that something was needed in order to have some kind of overview of the 106,000 gallery pages. See that number here:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Database_reports/Page_count_by_namespace

Foroa did not state an opinion on the other ideas. Please reread the later discussion at Commons:Categories_for_discussion to understand the problem. It is the main discussion:
http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Categories_for_discussion/2012/07/Category:Gallery_pages#Category:Gallery_pages

It is not about the awareness of the main namespace. We are aware of it. It is about being able to browse the titles of the many gallery pages in that main namespace in some comprehensible way. One possibility might be to categorize all gallery pages in a flat category. But that is not so easy to browse. Even with Template:LargeCategoryTOC. And it is not in a category tree format that way.

So it would be nice if some kind of way could be created in MediaWiki to show gallery page titles in some kind of browseable category tree format. I am open to ideas. But I am not a developer, and so I am asking developers for any help they might give.

[[mw:Extension:Categorytree]]: use namespaces=0.
I don't see anything to do here on software or Wikimedia side, reopen if you have something to ask,

Thanks. I did not know that extension could show pages (galleries). It is close to what I would like to see, but I need it to only show the categories containing pages, not all the categories. See:
