Regarding http://semantic-mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:RSS_format on 1.8 alpha, probably been there for quite a while:
The RSS format does not stip out it cannot display (things such as maps) and needs to do some transformations on MW stuff such as protocol relative URLs.
Ideally the result printer would use the same mechanisms as MediaWiki to achieve this. Once this is done, it'll be trivial to add an atom format as well.

That's merged but the URL in bug 38596 doesn't work yet, is the query wrong or what else? I'm no longer getting a feed, just a results page (empty).
Well the URL is part of an patch set. Please check the current available patch sets. As one can see, the latest code is running on [1] which generates a valid rss/atom feed for the [3] query.
Please report a problem that is related to |format=feed and not to |format=rss those are two different formats which do not share any commonalities.
