Add support for Georgian

Description

I didn't look into it much but I'm filing it to avoid losing track of it: ka.wiki apparently needs Narayam support, they're currently using a local script produced by hoo man.
Hoo, can you work on https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Narayam#Developing_a_key_mapping ?

Will the Wiki with enabled Narayam look same way as it is now? I wasn't able to see how the exactly the enabled extension will look like - the .pdf presentations seem to be outdated (http://bit.ly/O5zhJh) - and at the ml.wikipedia I don't see the checkbox. Can you please explain how exactly it will look like?

For now, there will be a new menu added next to Username / IP as shown in http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/File:NarayamMenu.png Upon clicking a menu will come listing Georgian transliteration as an option to select in wikis with Georgian as content language.

http://translatewiki.net/wiki/Main_Page?uselang=ka You can click the input method in this link and see how it looks like.

A more detailed (translatable) help documentation is available at http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Extension:Narayam.

Sometime in near future when we have Universal Language Selector comes in place, it will change the way it is for the better after doing a usability study. http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Universal_Language_Selector

Thank you.

Oh, I see it now on translatewiki.net.

  1. It seems to be too large - can we make smaller "more input languages" and

"help" buttons? They are extremely large and, in fact have no actual need.

  1. The button ` and ~ must also must be „ and “ .
  2. The extension needs to be enabled by default.

Thank you.

We are not really looking into changing design now, as the eventual plan is to have input settings part of Universal Language ready soon and hence this will not be done.

  1. The button ` and ~ must also must be „ and “ .

https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/#/c/19721/ will get merged soon.

In the bug 39432 , please mention to set wmgNarayamEnabledByDefault to true. Please be sure to explain users about the effect during the community concensus.

Thank you.

This is now merged. Can you please confirm if there are no more changes required for the key mapping, so it can come out of beta status?

Please move the bug to VERIFIED status.

Yes, I can confirm that transliteration is correct, all letters are on their places.

I've announced at the http://bit.ly/NS9gzw forum, and I am waiting for the replies right now. As soon we get consensus on this case, I will inform you.

The main point is that when a person enters ka-wiki, even if he has latin keyboard on, he must be writing in Georgian. If this is possible, than ka-wiki community has nothing against Narayam extension enabled. But in our opinion the creator of the original script - user:Hoo man should be informed anyway.

Regards,

Hoo knows very well about this discussion and Narayam and is ok with it.
