Do Not re-close this without actually resolving the issue. the lack of access via API makes using this in large scale cleanup very difficult.

I haven't seen yet an extensin with API. Do we have some examples ?

Checkuser, CentralAuth, ExpandTemplates, Flagged Revisions, Global Usage, Abuse Filter, Article Feedback, are just a few that I pulled from en.wiki
