At the example listed in the first comment in this Bugzilla thread:

only 5 of the subcategories listed immediately below Category:Astronomy on the Commons contain pages (galleries). I would prefer that the other 26 subcategories that do not contain pages not be listed.

Maybe some people want to see all the categories, but people at this discussion linked below only want a way to see an overview of galleries.

I would like a parameter added to Template:Category_tree_all that would prevent those 26 subcategories without pages from being listed.

I do not see why the exploration of the subcategories by the CategoryTree software would stop the ability to not list them after they were explored and found empty of pages.

There has to be a way to access and more easily show in an organized way some of the 106,000 galleries on the Commons. That number comes from here:
