WMF logo in wikimedia.org should be moved to the footer
Open, LowPublic

Description

A comment in a Quora answer [1] let me to realize that the disposition of logos at wikimedia.org could be made more intuitive. Currently, the WMF logo is presented in the same fashion as the content projects, which is both misleading and hindering of its identification as a separate type of entity on that page.

I believe having it in the footer (in a smaller size, by the way) could provide a more intuitive perception of its nature. Probably accompanied by a text saying something like "The Wikimedia projects are operated/hosted/maintained by the Wikimedia Foundation". The expression Wikimedia Foundation, as well as the logo, should be a link to wikimediafoundation.org, and the text can be a little "greyed out" to distinguish from the mission statement.

wikimedia.org's (and other [[m:project portals]]') design is managed on Meta.

You can find the HTML for www.wikimedia.org at https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Www.wikimedia.org_template.

Please suggest the changes on the talk page.

Thanks, Glaisher, I've added a comment there (and linked back to this bug for reference).

I don't think this task is resolved, but I'll leave it to @waldyrious to re-open if he'd like.

Indeed, the WMF logo is in the bottom row of the logos grid, but still part of that grid, so the main issue remains. Considering that the page contains 16 logos in a neat 4x4 grid, we could still have a perfect 5x3 grid if we removed one logo from there, so not even aesthetics would be sacrificed with such a change.
