It's like the Konami code of the Visual Editor. :) I'll take a look at this. We're specifically using a pawn for a certain trick that we need to do so that if it ever appears, we know where the problem is.

Confirming bug.

It also occurs in this simplified sequence:
(1) Click anywhere on the text
(2) Enter, enter, up

(Note: Christian, Konami code is an easter egg, not a bug. It doesn't occur with normal operations. I agree the sequence enter enter up backspace enter down appears to be a little like a up up down down left right left right b a (enter) but ... the sequence Nicolas use is a legit one to edit text.)

All pawn problems have been resolved and pushed to mediawiki.org.

I (original reporter) confirm the fix.

I think that this happens again, but only on Firefox.

Here's another simple test:

https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/VisualEditor:Pawn

Edit this page in VE and start moving with the arrow keys forward (right). A pawn appears in the beginning and the end of every list item.

This seems to be fixed already in master and on mediawiki.org.

Marking back as fixed as of October. If you have new bugs, please create new reports rather than re-open ones tangentially-related.
