Go to http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:VisualEditorSandbox with Firefox
Put your cursor anywhere in the text
Press CTRL-A (or select all text with the mouse)
Press "Backspace". All content disappears.
Type "a".
Press "Backspace". Problem: "a" is not removed.

Confirmed on Mac/Firefox too (no issue on Chrome, Safari)

Now fixed in master.

Assigning this to a release milestone so it's clear when at the latest to expect it to have been fixed; it may have been fixed beforehand.
