Categorize {{#babel}} on sv-wikt
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

I'd like to enable categorization of {{#babel}} for sv-wikt.

{{#babel|sv}}
should categorize into: "Kategori:Användare sv" and "Kategori:Användare sv-N"

while {{#babel|fi-0}}
should categorize into: "Kategori:Användare fi" and "Kategori:Användare fi-0"

etc.

Please discuss the matter on the svenskspråkiga Wiktionary's most appropriated place, like [[sv:wikt:Wiktionary:Bybrunnen]].

We would like especially to know if your community wishes to uses categories till level 4 or 5.

Dan: Could you paste a link to the discussion on the local wiki, please?

There has been very little discussion thus far, probably because the community is very small and the people who are active now are not particularly interested in structural changes, like this one.

It seems like Dodde and I (Skalman) agree that we want to:

  • use sv-N for mother tongue
  • use levels 0-4 (not include level 5; like en-wikt)
  • categorize users under: "Kategori:Wiktionary:Användare <langcode>" and "Kategori:Wiktionary:Användare <langcode>-<level>", e.g.:
    • "Kategori:Wiktionary:Användare sv" and "Kategori:Wiktionary:Användare sv-N"

The only difference from our current {{babel}} system is that this would add a "Wiktionary:" prefix to the categories.

Thank you for the follow-up.

I will prepare your configuration change later this evening.

Your configuration change is ready.

Gerrit change 39747.

Note: deployment will be slowed down in December, so if not deployed in the next few days, you can expect it early January.

Alright, it seems to work, but not exactly as I expected.

I expected that writing {{#babel|sv-5}} would result in the exact same thing as sv-4, since the -5 is supposed to be disabled. Instead it only seems like the -5 *category* is disabled.

Is that how it's supposed to work, or is there a bug in here? If it's an expected result, I'll ignore it and you may close the bug again.

This is by feature: this setting controls the categories to create automatically.

Render yy-5 as yy-4 would mean print an information different than the information expected by the user.

Alright! Re-closing the bug. Thanks for your help.
