My concern is this kind of configuration request should be discussed by the it.wikivoyage community as a whole.

There are mainly two strategies to discuss a configuration change, each wiki using one, the other or both.

(1) Discuss the change on the village pump or an appropriated place (e.g. http://it.wikivoyage.org/wiki/Wikivoyage:Lounge)

(2) Have a formal process with a community discussion, then a vote.

We don't have any requirement for the discussion format. Our only requirement is to be sure the change is approved by a community consensus.
