migrate all beta instance from Lucid to Precise
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Lucid is out of date and ship with an old puppet version which might not recognize our new puppet manifests.

This bug is about migrating all instances from Lucid to Precise:

deployment-cache-upload03 (upload.beta.wmflabs.org)
deployment-dbdump (udp2log receiver)
deployment-feed
deployment-sql02 (wikivoyage databases)
deployment-sql (most wikis databases)
deployment-squid (text cache)

bzimport set Reference to bz45122.
bzimport added a subscriber: Unknown Object (MLST).

Created some instances as replacements:

deployment-cache-upload04 (to replace cache-upload03)
deployment-cache-text01 (to replace -squid)
deployment-sql04 and -sql03 (to replce -sql and sql02)

The dbdump would be phased out whenever udp2log is moved somewhere else (most probably on the bastion)

role::cache::upload choke on Lucid and squid is not installable on Precise. https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/49708 makes beta uses Varnish for upload cache instead of Squid.

There is no real class to install just mysql. I have created a db role for beta: https://gerrit.wikimedia.org/r/49703

Not going to be done anytime soon. Moving bug back to pool.

As of august 2013, we only have two Lucid instances remaining which are the database servers:

  • deployment-sql.pmtpa.wmflabs
  • deployment-sql02.pmtpa.wmflabs

I have filled bug 53339 to have the databases instances migrated to MariaDB.

All eqiad instances are running Precise.
