I believe the issue is that it shows the oldid version, not the diff version. It happens that the oldid version in that example (https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q62927&curid=65670&diff=7276895&oldid=681440) has no statements.

For a case where both versions have statements, but it shows the oldid set, see https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q180&diff=next&oldid=17829310 .
