[Android] App crashes if you select a file that no longer exists or has been renamed
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

The default Gallery on Android doesn't refresh very often, so it's possible to delete or rename a file (via a file manager) and then select (the old name of) it for upload to Commons.

This will crash the app.

Can you give me steps to repro this?

  1. Use a file manager to delete (or rename) a photo.
  1. (Optional) Verify that Gallery still shows the thumbnail in the grid view.
  1. Attempt to upload that photo via the Commons app.

Any updates? It is still crashing when opening renamed file.

As the Mobile Apps Team is focussing on the new, native Wikipedia app, the Commons app is no longer being maintained by the Wikimedia Foundation. I am WONTFIXing all open Commons app bugs to reflect that we will not be spending time fixing them.
