Diff for outdated translations is broken, left side has whole page
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Split from bug 44328 for discoverability purposes.

(From bug 44328 comment #9)

Also the message diff in the Translation tool doesn't work correctly. Instead
of the previous text corresponding to the current message the text of the
whole
page is shown and I don't have any comparison possibility more.

(From bug 44328 comment #10)

This is a transitional issue because we made internal changes how the changes
are tracked. It will go away with time.

Nothing can be done, I'm told, but there are workarounds to let translators update the translations: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Wikidata:Project_chat&diff=15262670&oldid=15253894

This is not related to TUX btw.

Yes, sorry, it was just to give a vague timeframe/context of the internal change.

Nothing can be done, I'm told, but there are workarounds to let translators
update the translations:
https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Wikidata:
Project_chat&diff=15262670&oldid=15253894

That worked in part. A few thousands edits were performed: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Contributions&offset=&limit=5000&tagfilter=&contribs=user&target=BetaBot&namespace=1198
Where the FUZZY was not there explicitly, the bot edits were able to fix the diff: https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Translations:Wikidata:Introduction/20/ro&action=history
Where the FUZZY was already there, removing and readding it via bot doesn't have effect (although it works if done manually), see e.g. the still broken diff at https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Translations:Wikidata:Administrators/4/zh-tw&action=edit

I still see this on many (most?) Meta-Wiki translations.

You are lacking information: when were those translations originally made.

I don't have any intention to waste time debugging a WONTFIX bug. I'm just reporting a daily life observation.
