The Commons app cannot be found by its Hebrew name in the Play store
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

I cannot find the app by its Hebrew name "ויקישיתוף" in the Play store. Curiously, if I type that name, I do find the Wikipedia app.

This does work for the Wikipedia app, called "ויקיפדיה".

The name "ויקישיתוף" appears correctly as the icon title after I install the app.

I found the bug.

Oh dear God.

They have an interface in the dashboard. I will need to copy paste the Title and description in each language on that interface, manually, for it to be searchable by that.

Oh dear God.

So... I tried adding a Hebrew translation of the store entry; unfortunately it won't save without also entering an app description. Urgh, this could be fun to maintain. :)

Maybe we should put the store entries into TWN....

The store entries were in TWN for the Wikipedia, and it worked quite well.

This is probably still an issue, as I don't believe we've transitioned the store texts to TWN yet.

As the Mobile Apps Team is focussing on the new, native Wikipedia app, the Commons app is no longer being maintained by the Wikimedia Foundation. I am WONTFIXing all open Commons app bugs to reflect that we will not be spending time fixing them.
